Europe meets China

2. Aug. 2024

In summer 2024, a Global Young Leaders Union forum brought together young leaders from across Europe. The focus was on innovation, economic relations and intercultural cooperation.

The Global Young Leaders Union cooperated with the European Youth Forum under the motto “Europe meets China” and offered a unique opportunity for future leaders from Europe and China to exchange views on key global issues from July 29 to August 2 in Neumarkt, Styria. The 21 participants discussed topics such as energy policy, mobility, the circular economy and the global challenges of our time. The forum not only served as a platform for knowledge transfer, but also to promote intercultural skills and build a global network.

The program was diverse and included cultural activities and team-building measures in addition to intensive discussions and presentations. Among other things, there was an “energy tour” through the region, lectures on relations between Europe and China and interactive workshops on Chinese culture and language. There was a particular focus on the question of how young people from different cultures can work together to develop joint solutions to global challenges.

The project thus represented an important bridge between Europe and China to promote dialog and strengthen shared values such as democracy, human rights and the rule of law. The participants had the opportunity not only to contribute their own perspectives, but also to gain valuable insights into other cultures. The forum ended with a festive closing ceremony where the participants were recognized for their contributions. It was an inspiring event that impressively demonstrated the importance of international cooperation and the value of intercultural exchange.
